What a night for the Red Sox! Pure joy for any Red Sox fan and a truly historic night. I think any baseball fan from New York to St Louis can appreciate the history that we all witnessed. I lived in Boston from 1999-2006 experiencing the 2004 series first hand. That had it's own history and that team had it's own identity but this 2013 team was special and I'm so happy for the fans in Boston that had to go through the tragedy of Patriots Day, the anxiety of the next few days until they caught the people responsible for it and then the exasperation of last night. Boston Strong for life!
My record last night was not pure joy. I went 3-2 last night thanks to a no show by the Heat and the fact that I totally forgot that they were resting Wade. Plus the Knicks not covering by a half a point. What really burns me up regarding the Knicks game is with 20 seconds left Metta World Peace rebounds the ball and the Bucks did not foul him. This is totally unacceptable, you are only down by 7 with 20 seconds left! If you foul and get a quick 3 you are only down two possessions with maybe 15 seconds left. I just don't understand why they quit...I will have to remember that the next time I bet against the Bucks...and I vow never to have half points in my spreads. I will buy a half a point from now on if I can.
On to the picks...
Not much to go on today so I had to get creative.
3 team teaser, all overs.
Cincy/Miami over (33)
ASU/WSU over (60.5)
USF/Houston over (44)
All three of these games can go either way which bodes well for overs.
I know Cincy has a decent defense but they are still giving up 322 yards per game and their defense does not play well on the road. Miami however is giving up just under 24 points a game. I see both teams starting a bit slow but Cincy picks it up a bit in the second half and a late garbage TD seals it.
ASU travels to Washington to play in a cold weather game which they haven't won since 2008. They will need their offense to continue to score points at an average of 45 points a game while their defense needs to play better than giving up 26 points a game. WSU is ranked 6th in passing but giving up just under 30 points a game. I see this game turning into a shootout and quite possibly going into OT.
Houston has quite a prolific offense ranked 10th in points with 42 per game and 17th in passing. Their defense is leaky giving up 22 points per game. USF does have challenges on both sides of the ball but they are getting back their top RB which should give them some options on offense. More than likely Houston takes care of the over themselves but if they are looking ahead to their showdown with UCF and USF has some fight in them this game will be close and more points will be scored.
NBA:
Bulls (-335) at home vs the Knicks: The Knicks are coming off a sloppy game against the Bucks and are traveling to Chicago to play a second game of a back-to-back. After getting punked the other night by the Heat the Bulls are looking to prove to their fans and the public that they are the team to beat in the East. Bulls win.
Warriors @ Clippers 1QU (52): Last time the Clippers played they gave up 41 in the 4th quarter to the Lakers. I think that will stick in the mind of Doc Rivers and the Clippers new approach to committing to defense. Plus if you don't play defense against the Warriors you will get blown out of the building. Look for the Warriors to start slow coming of an emotionally charged win at home versus the Lakers combined with the Clippers defense should bring a low scoring first quarter.
Keep an Eye On...
The Lowest Under:
Last night the two lowest unders went 1-1 with the lowest under covering. Since there are only two NBA games tonight this does not have a play.
Fading Houston:
Houston pushed the spread at 13 last night and are not playing tonight.
