A satisfying night going 2-1, however if the Clippers could have played a little defense in the 4th quarter and not given up 41...I might have gone 3-0. No matter tonight brings a fresh set of games with a couple of gems.
Let's get the easy stuff out of the way first. I'm taking the Sox in game 6 and game 7. Knowing that they have two games to win one. If it does get to game 7 I'll double my bet because even though it's Peavy's start in game 7 I can't imagine him having along leash.
Sox at -118
CFB:
Contrary to popular belief, tonight's match up between Cincinnati at Memphis is going to be a good game. Both teams play good defense and really have nothing else to play for except themselves. I can't begin to predict what will happen but I have a pretty good feeling there won't be too much scoring in the first quarter.
1Q U at 9.5
NBA:
Miami (-11.5) @ Philadelphia: We saw what an elite team Miami is when they punked Chicago last night. They may start out slow due to the second game of a back-to-back but in this point in the season I'm not worried about fatigue. Plus the 76ers next to Phoenix might be the worst team in the NBA.
3 team parlay: (-112)
Raptors at home vs. the Celtics: The Celtics are in rebuilding mode without their best player. Toronto is much improved playing at home. They play hard for the home crowd and win a closer game than anyone expects.
Minnesota at home vs. Orlando: After getting beat by Indiana the Magic have to quickly turn around and play the T-wolves. Minnesota is a much improved team with size in the middle and Kevin Love doing his thing. Orlando won't have an answer for an excited Minnesota team playing in their home opener.
Finally we have Oklahoma City traveling to Utah: Normally I'd stay away from this game since Utah is pretty strong at home and the Thunder is missing Westbrook. However the Jazz are gawd-awful, they are starting Richard Jefferson at SF for Christ's sake! OTC will go through some scoring droughts but the Jazz are not a defensive minded team anyway. Look for Durrant to get his Ibeka and Perkins to dominate down low.on both ends of the floor.
Keep An Eye On:
Here is where I will keep track of trends and hunches that I have to see if there is any merit to them.
The Lowest Under:
The Spurs/Grizzles under at (187.5) and the Pacers/Pelicans under at (187). I'm looking into an old NBA betting system to bet the lowest under as long as there are 4 teams playing that night.
Fading Houston:
Expectations are high this season in Houston and that might be reflected in the lines and what the public does with them. Tonight is a good example as they are favored by 13, however they are playing the Bobcats who are better than the bottom five but I'm not trusting Big Al's ankle against Howard.
