UFC 206
Max Holloway versus Anthony Pettis
Breaking News! Anthoney Pettis did not make weight at the weigh-ins. He weighed in at 148 lbs, three pounds over the 145 lb weight limit for featherweight. The penalty for this is he forfeits 20% of his purse to Holloway and is not eligible to be the interim champion if he wins.
The featured match for UFC 206 has Max Holloway fighting Anthony Pettis. This match is an attempt to palliate the frustrated Holloway who has a nine fight win streak yet can’t get a title match. So he is fighting Pettis, a former lightweight champion, who really is pretty new to the featherweight division and hasn't really earned a title shot, yet here they are fighting for the interim championship belt, I wish I could explain why it is for an interim belt but I can't. It's in a division whose real champion, Conor McGregor was just stripped of this belt because he just won the lightweight championship, and the UFC doesn't want him to have two championships at once because he doesn't defend them often enough. Actually, he has never defended any championship he has ever won! I'm about to stop here before I write a novel, but I need to just say two more words, Jose Aldo. He is the champion now sort of, thought he didn't fight to get it, not that he doesn't deserve it. For those who have followed my fight picks here at Letsget60, you already know that if you don't understand why the UFC makes the decisions it does, the answer is always money. Oh yeah, speaking of money, time to make some, cause I'm here to make fight picks…
Pick: Max Holloway by decision
Matt Brown versus Donald Cerrone
Nothing strange here. These are two very good serious old-time fighters that come to the office every day, don't cause any trouble for the company, and give it all they have.
Pick: Donald Cerrone by strikes second round.
Dooho Choi versus Cub Swanson
Swanson has long been a favorite fighter of mine. He is a pleasure to watch, very slick and creative. Choi, the Korean Superboy, is an up and coming serious striking machine. This could be the best fight of the night.
Pick: Dooho Choi by decision
Kelvin Gastelum versus Tim Kennedy
Pick: Kennedy by decision
Emil Meek versus Jordan Mein
Pick: Jordan Mein by decision
Misha Cirkunov versus Nikita Krylov
Pick: Nikita Krylov by submission second round
